Dad's An American Citizen!

On Tuesday, January 20th, my dad became a citizen of the United States. Even though he's lived in the US for much of his married life, he only had a green card. Yesterday, after lots of waiting, paperwork and money, he became an official citizen of the United States.

Here he is taking the oath of allegiance to the United States. He still retains his Canadian citizenship, so now he's both American and Canadian (like me!!).

Here he is receiving his certificate from the district representative from the Office of Homeland Security. I find it interesting that Dad became a US citizen on the same day that Barack Obama was inaugurated as president! ;-)

So that is so awesome but I think you should put a pic of your dad on so we can see him... It is breath taking how much he looks like Mr. Bean... Sorry Mr. Abbott but it is so true...

That is wonderful..though Obama was inaugurated on Jan. 20th not Dec. 20th ; ) Not trying to be ornery ...just got confused for a minute. Well congrats to your dad, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

That's so cool!!! My mom was naturalized back in '82 I think it was... at Monticello. I think of that day every time I see pictures of your folk's B&B. Don't ask me why. Probably just getting the former President's homes mixed up!! :-)
Congrats to your dad!!
